What Strange Things You See When You Happen to be in the Right Place at the Right Time

Just had to post this one. Dennis was in disguise. My niece said he looked like a lion.  It was pretty funny.

State Fair of Louisiana Results

W5 had a great day at the State Fair of Louisiana.  We also enjoy going and spending time together.  This year Boaz again joined us for the journey.  We had a lot of good conversations with friends and made new ones as well.

In the heifer show we had two entries.  W5 Ms 457 JT by W5 Overtime 413J stood 1st in her class of fall born heifers while W5 Ms 4601G by W5 Overtime 403J stood second in her winter class.  Both are really progressing nicely.  I love the comment made by the judge, Mark Ebling, when I took 457 in the ring, "Now that's more like it" indicating he really liked her type and kind.  I must agree.  She is a first heifer calf.  I did not think alot of her the first couple of months she was on the ground. But then she turned it on and has gotten better every day.  She will be a super female.  I am very excited to see what she has to offer to as a brood cow.

W5 Ms 457 JT took Fall Heifer Division Champion honors.  As we were taking pictures I didn't realize that Boaz did not have the correct rosette.  However,  we decided not to retake the photo as the ribbon holder was somewhat tired.

In the bull division we had W5 Incentive 466D, by W5 Overtime 400J and out of TRM 2E Chloe P606 4249 ET.  If you like dark, you will love him.  He is super dark, super deep, big volumed with lots of muscle.  He's freckled face to boot.  He stood first in his class and went on to be Reserve Division Bull Calf.
He has really impressed me the last couple of months.  Thrown out with the other bulls, he has definitely held his own.  We were concerned that he might be a tick short.  No worries there.  He is coming along great! (Notice the ribbon holder)

Then we had -S W5 Gran Torino 4249 Y14 anchoring the team.  He looked great and took his class, division, and then stood Reserve Champion Bull.  Though the picture may not be as good as I would have preferred, you can see his expressive muscle pattern.  We turned him out the following morning on a set of cows and he immediately went to work.

This is a very cool bull.  What a pedigree - just take a look.

We are very excited about what Y14 brings to the table.  He is very unique in his pedigree and the phenotype is exceptional.  Call for details on semen packages.  My number is 817.988.5573
