Louisiana State Fair Results

We had a super trip to Louisiana State Fair.  I saw a bull from Atlas Polled Herefords while at the State Fair of Texas.  He was quite impressive and was sired by Catapult.  He was deep, wide, and very cool to watch.  I approached Jimmy and Claudia about him and was even more impressed to find out that he weighed 61 lbs at birth.  So I was quick to call and discuss options with Dad.  He agreed that this would be a nice addition to the herd.  So I made arrangements with Jimmy and Claudia.  He was already entered in the State Fair of Louisiana so I suggested that we show him and the we take him home from there.

Upon arrival in Louisiana, he was the talk of the barn.  He is impressive and just a calf.  He is sired by Catapult and out of a Shock and Awe Daughter.

He is impressive.  We were excited when he was slapped Champion Bull of the Show.  Pretty Cool.

Boaz and Junie B had another great day.  They stood first in class and then division champion.  Boaz is doing a great job showing and working.  Junie B thinks it's pretty cool too.

Zella had a blast too and is a hard worker.  She will make an excellent showman. Okay showperson.

Catching Up from 2014

Boaz and Zella worked very hard this year to acquire disciplines in showmanship.

Here they are in the summer when it was really hot.  Every time Boaz would start working Junie B, he would get super hot and would have to wipe the sweat off his brow.  LOL

Then it was time to prepare for the East Texas State Fair.

W5 Total Pursuit 503D was slapped Reserve Champion Bull.

Boaz also had a great day.  He and Junie B were Intermediate Division Champions.

His EPD's are tremendous. He is very acceptable in his birthweight EPD and is in the top 9% of the breed for Milk and Growth and Rib Eye Area.  Just think about what type of steaks his progeny could put on the table.  He is big footed, very fluid in his walk, and has that very deep cherry color that is very desirable.  He is freckled faced with pigmentation on both eyes.  He is halter broke and ready to go to work for you!  His sire was two time Reserve Champion Bull at the State Fair of Louisiana and a tremendous asset to our herd.  He was undefeated in class showing at several state shows and two national shows.  We are only selling this young herd sire prospect because we are already using his half brother.  Don't miss this opportunity your herd.

The next offering in the sale is W5 Ms Sweetgum 427T.  She is a three year old with size and substance.  Long necked and femine, she carries has a great muscle pattern.

Two of her half sisters have recently been named as Dams of Distinction.  She will be a very nice addition to any herd.  Her bull calf at side is also very cool front ended, dark in color and could be a great herd sire prospect or a show steer prospect - the choice is yours.

She is bred back the same way to -S W5 Gran Torino 4249 Y14, the 2011 Texas Reserve Champion Polled Hereford Bull.  Take a close look at this one.

Congratulations to Exhibitors at Fort Worth Stock Show

We want to congratulate all the exhibitors at the Fort Worth Stock Show!

Ben Vanwinkle and his heifer Lucy won the Senior Yearling Class.  Lucy had an extra companion along side.  Her October 14, 2013 heifer calf, Violet , commanded quite the attention.
Here is Violet in the stalls.  She is sired by -S W5 Gran Torino 4249 Y14.  She is cool fronted and stout.  She is big topped and carries great muscle down into the lower 1/3 of her hind quarter.  She is definitely a looker.
The picture doesn't tell the story adequately.  Lucy was tired and did not want to cooperate.  She was ready for the barn and some relaxation.  Violet was a trooper and loves the attention.  Congratulations again to Ben and Hannah.

Hannah had her own calf to show as well and placed 4th in class.  Her heifer is also bred to Y14 and the result should be outstanding.

Josh Born exhibited his September heifer in one of the toughest classes of the day.  She stood 6th is a super stout class.  She is green but has the potential to be a great one.  She has already stood at the top in a jackpot show and will only get better with time.  She came to the game as a yearling but should be tremendous as a heavy bred.  Here she is just prior to going to Fort Worth with only two months of feed and prep time.
Beautiful only begins to describe this one.

Semen is available on Y14.  It is $40 per straw - no certificate.  Don't just imagine what he could do for your herd, call for your semen order today!

Winter Major Stock Shows are Just Around the Corner

The Winter Majors are just around the corner.  We want to wish each junior with a W5 Hereford heifer the best.  All the calves out will be by W5 Overtime 400J.  They are pretty tremendous. Ben Vanwinkle even has a coupon beside his heifer.  The baby heifer calf is by -S W5 Gran Torino 4249 Y14.  They are both very nice.
