Gettin Things Right

Zella and Coco are coming along.  They make a great pair.  I can see alot of similarities with Coco and her mom Brownie.

Coco now.

Brownie when we first started her.

Just Hanging Out

 Elrod was so excited

to know he was officially a father.  I mean doesn't he look excited?  Well even if he doesn't look excited, he is looking GOOD!

Abigail and Jingle are excited too.

New Arrival

The Cookie Monster delivered her first on January 22.  She's a beautiful heifer.  Sire is Elrod.  Weight on heifer 55 lbs.  WOW  I'm not sure Cookie is impressed but she has a beautiful udder and is taking great care of . . . Sprinkles.  Sprinkles in Polled.  Cute Cute.  Even Boaz thinks so.  Congratulations to Zella.

Abigail Says Hello

Upon returning home Elrod went on a visit to Metch Polled Herefords to take care of some business. While there Abigail wanted to say hello.  Doesn't Jingle look good!

Another Spa Day

This time Zella, Karter, and Andee were all involved.  Elrod thought he was in heaven.

Now that is some lovin!

Picture Time - What a Look!

We had picture time.  Elrod showed off for it.  Just look at that hip and back leg - wow.  If he stamps his progeny with that, they should have an awesome look!

Competition

Boaz wanted Aunt Barbara to know she was with us in spirit so he made sure to wear his Metch Scholarship Show Champion Buckle.

It was stiff competition in class as expected.  We didn't win the class but we got several looks and great comments from cattlemen.  The bull that won the class ended up being Champion Polled Hereford Bull.  Several days later he was crowned supreme champion bull over all breeds.

Cattlemen's Congress

As it turned out, we ended up only taking Elrod and Lance's Polled heifer.  Zella made good use of her time and gave Elrod the royal treatment. He had spa days and reading time.

We Made it To OKC the CAttlemen's Congress

Zella was all excited about the snow.  It snowed several days in advance of our arrival, Thank the Lord.  But the back yard where we stayed was in full snow.  This was the next morning.

Happy New Year

Elrod is looking great.  Wow he is something.  We are taking offers.  He is available to be your next herd bull.

Santa Rides a Reindeer? A Christmas Eve happening

Well I'm not sure that Santa actually rides the reindeer, but Boaz decided that PB was a good candidate to try out.  I kind of dared him.  PB was all in for it as long as treats were involved.

A New Start Is Born - W5 BZW Jingle Bell 021

Abigail calved on December 12th.  We now have Jingle Bell.  What a look she has.  She is by -S W5 Gran Torino Y14 - that's Dennis.  It looks like is was a good genetic match.  We should see her out in 2021  maybe at the Junior Preview Show.  Congratulations Boaz.

It's December

It's December and Brownie and Coco are looking nice.  And of course Elrod.  The question is . . "Is he better than his brother Dennis?"

Making Decisions

In preparation to go the show in OKC - the Cattlemen's Congress, we know Cookie can't go so we decide to take a cow calf pair - Brownie and Coco.  So Coco has to learn to lead.  And then there are spa days.

Updates

Here's the Cranberry following Head's Up & Stick'Em.
Zella is showing Elrod some love.  He is super docile.

Now Zella gets in on the real work, putting out hay by hand.

It's November Now

Here is the Cookie.  She is tremendous.   Rockwall County 4-H Beef Club hosted the Head's Up & Stick'Em Show.   Cranberry was Champion Mini Hereford.  Yes she is that small.  Cookie stood first in class and wow just look at her.  Can't believe that I didn't get a pic of the Cranberry.  Lance Carter was Reserve Champion Hereford with AC.

We found out that Fort Worth is canceled.  Denver is canceled, but there will be a show in Oklahoma.  We plan to go there.

Cookie is Cookilscous

She gets better everyday.  We were able to get to a couple of shows.  This year was the 50th annual Jack Cross Show.   I remember Mr. Cross.  He was the first person to trim my calf's feet.  This use to called Autumn Trails Show.  I remember the family taking Angie, Shasta, and Rosie to the show and showing in the rodeo arena.

Tate Farms State Fair Social

What great fun and educating people about cattle.  Zella loves to share with everyone how they use ag products daily especially the parts of the cow.
Cranberry and Cookie are the stars of the show.   I think they know it and like it.

Looking for Something To Do

Even Coco is bored.  With opportunities scarce we are looking for something to do.  Tate Farms decided to host a State Fair social for people to have the "State Fair Experience" . So 4-H hosted the beef showmanship clinic there so people could see what goes on.  Then we also had some other booths.  We even had a photo area so people could take a shot with the TATE FARMS Grand Champions.

West Texas State Fair

We were excited to get out and showcase our cattle.  Abilene was a blast.

Zella loves personal shots with the cattle.  I think she reads them bedtime stories.
