We had a great show at the East Texas State Fair. This year the show broke Horns and Polled into separate shows. It was the State Polled Hereford Show. We took two entries to the event and walk away very excited about the confirmation of our breeding program. -S W5 Gran Torino 4249 Y14 was named Reserve Champion State Polled Hereford Bull. We purchased him from Schock Ranch as they were greatly reducing their herd. When I say this calf at two months old I was impressed. When I saw his Dam, I was even more impressed and knew this pair would be a great addition to our herd.
Y14's pedigree is tremendous. On the top side he goes back to 146 with some Pure Gold. On the bottom side his Dam is out of P606. A super mating in itself. We believe that "Dennis" is an exceptional bull with unlimited potential. Plans are to have semen packages available in the spring of 2012. We also had a super cool intermediate heifer that stood Reserve Champion in the Division. There was alot of talk about her as well.
In the Horned Division we garnered several rosettes as well, including Reserve Intermediate Heifer, Senior Yearling Champion Heifer, Reserve Champion Bull Calf and Senior Champion Bull. We had a tremendous day.
Our senior herd bull, W5 Overtime 400J, stood Division Champion. He is an outstanding individual. His first calves are on the ground and are very stylish, with a lot of eye appeal. His heifers are averaging 60 lbs. I hope to have some pictures up soon. They are dark and really cool.
