Catching Up

To say the least it has been awhile since the last posting.  Since then, Boaz has almost completed a full year of junior showing.  We chose a super heifer out of the calf crop - W5 Heritage Lady 540D.  She was a stand out from day 1.  Here she is at a couple of weeks old.
So we had great hopes for her.  She has been an awesome calf for his first year as a junior competitor.  She won several of her shows as a calf.  Here she is at State Fair of Texas.  She stood Reserve Division in the Open Show and won the Division in the Junior Show.

She then turned around two weeks later and stood Reserve Champion Female at the State Fair of Louisiana Open Show.

So we have been pretty excited to say the least. She has performed well for Boaz and Firecracker, Boaz and Zella all get along great.  Firecracker developed,  or at least we identified it, an OCD Lesion in her right shoulder.  So she started turning out on her front end to ease the pain.  We were able to get her to the OSU Vet School where she made numerous friends.  We were able to treat the problem and have been reteaching her how to stand on her front end.  She is almost there.

Right now she is out getting bred.

We are offering half sibs to her that look pretty spectacular.  One is by the one of our cows that stood Reserve National Champion Cow Calf pair in Ft Worth in 2015.  Take a look at some of the pics posted in the next post.  The heifers were just weaned and slicked for new hair growth.
