Thank You Lord for the Rain
The family had a great day working cattle on Christmas Eve and then the day after Christmas as well. On both occasions it was drizzling. We thank the good Lord above for the blessing of rain. Here are a few photos that Tracee took while the work was going on. Enjoy.

State Fair of Louisiana Results
We had a super time in Louisiana. As always we got to visit with our friends from Louisiana and enjoyed the time. W5 Overtime 400J made his last appearance in the show ring and maintained his undefeated in class status. he is truly an amazing bull. Overall he stood Reserve Champion Bull. We were very excited. His first calves are extremely nice and are awesome to watch grow. They are dark in color and conservatively marked.
Here is one of his heifer calves. She is super cool, smooth polled with just the right color and one fully marked eye. She should be a show stopper!
-S W5 Gran Torino 4249 Y14 also had a very good day. He stood Reserve Division. He looked great as you can see. The judge commented that "This bull's time will be in the near future." We agree that he is in a growing stage. And he is still super thick, sound, and just a tremendous bull. We love his hip placement and the way he tracks. He is Impressive!
W5 Ms Sweetgum 428T also had a great day. She stood Reserve Intermediate Division winner. She is one of our last daughters from SB 157H Rite-Way 81R ET. She is stout. She is also FOR SALE. She would make a great first heifer project for a junior or a very nice addition to any herd. She is dark in color, conservatively marked, and backed by a genetic package the is second to none. On her dam's side she goes back to DR Achiever 8403, and Pure Gold. On her sires side she goes back to Remitall Highway, Keynote, and the great JR Cassandra cow. She will continue to get better and better.
Boaz got to enjoy the fun, this year too. He was very excited to accompany us to the show. He had a lot to tell his friends back at school.
Stop by and see the cattle on your next trip to east Texas. Take a look at -S W5 Gran Torino and the fall calves. Christmas is just around the corner. Pick out your Christmas present now.

This January calf is super clean front ended with a big top in him and a great muscle pattern. He has eye appeal to spare. "Red Eye" as Dad calls him also has a calm disposition as well. We are excited to have David Rawe and his family share our genetics. We look forward to hearing great things from this young bull.
Congratulations to Crooked Creek for also having the Champion Get a Sire entry in the Texas State Polled Hereford Show held during the East Texas State Fair.

East Texas State Fair Results
We had a great show at the East Texas State Fair. This year the show broke Horns and Polled into separate shows. It was the State Polled Hereford Show. We took two entries to the event and walk away very excited about the confirmation of our breeding program. -S W5 Gran Torino 4249 Y14 was named Reserve Champion State Polled Hereford Bull. We purchased him from Schock Ranch as they were greatly reducing their herd. When I say this calf at two months old I was impressed. When I saw his Dam, I was even more impressed and knew this pair would be a great addition to our herd.
Y14's pedigree is tremendous. On the top side he goes back to 146 with some Pure Gold. On the bottom side his Dam is out of P606. A super mating in itself. We believe that "Dennis" is an exceptional bull with unlimited potential. Plans are to have semen packages available in the spring of 2012. Look for more exciting news from -S W5 Gran Torino 4249 Y14.
We also had a super cool intermediate heifer that stood Reserve Champion in the Division. There was alot of talk about her as well.
In the Horned Division we garnered several rosettes as well, including Reserve Intermediate Heifer, Senior Yearling Champion Heifer, Reserve Champion Bull Calf and Senior Champion Bull. We had a tremendous day.

Our senior herd bull, W5 Overtime 400J, stood Division Champion. He is an outstanding individual. His first calves are on the ground and are very stylish, with a lot of eye appeal. His heifers are averaging 60 lbs. I hope to have some pictures up soon. They are dark and really cool.

The Girls of Fall
We have just two Girls of Fall the we are offering. The first one is a super clean, deep bodied powerful female. She is a really cool heifer. She is an October baby so she is still on momma right now.
Then we have our November Girl. She is a first heifer calf. If this is any indication of what momma is going to do, we are going to be very excited. She is out of a heifer bull we raised, and could not be happier. Take a look for yourself.

Summer Heifers Available for Purchase
We have 4 summer babies that are worth your time to take a look at if you are needing a summer class show heifer. We have two June babies. This one is Polled. She is tremendous. Look at the depth of body, length and extension.
This June baby is Horned. She has style to spare. She will be a real showmanship heifer as well. Look at that front end. Super deep and dark color.
We have two late summer babies that too may steal the picture. This little lady is a July baby. She has really extraordinary lines. She moves into her shoulder very nicely and carries herself well. Probably the plainest heifer of the bunch, but when I see her in the picture, it definitely makes me want to take another look.
This is our August Girl. She is really thick and stout while carrying a really clean front end. She's the baby of this bunch, but carries power for her age.
These are all green broke. Obviously, they weren't thrilled to have their picture made, but did get through the process.
